About
Jakob Ivan Larsen Artist
Jakob Ivan Larsen (b. 1971) is a Danish self-taught painter based in Aarhus, Denmark. Working at the intersection of abstraction and figuration, he creates layered compositions that explore memory, atmosphere, nature and the traces of human experience.
Drawing on more than three decades of artistic practice alongside a career in architecture, Jakob Ivan Larsen's work is defined by a fascination of places and nature and a strong sense of composition, colour and spatial depth. His paintings often evolve through multiple layers of acrylic paint, allowing fragments of imagery, nature, architectural structures and organic forms to emerge and dissolve within the same visual field.
Rather than presenting fixed narratives, Jakob Ivan Larsen's paintings invite interpretation. Landscapes, human figures, and layered structures appear as references and associations, encouraging the viewer to construct their own story and emotional connection to the work.
His recent practice focuses on the dynamic relationship between intuition and vision. Working with colour, texture and form he creates paintings that balance expressive freedom with careful composition.
Works by Jakob Ivan Larsen are held in private and corporate collections in Denmark and Europe. View Selected Works
